Heroes: The Final Episode of Season 1 +Wildwood

So I just watched the final episode of Heroes last night. It was about 2.5 months after it came out on that thing called the television, but events run slowly in terms of media on Canal Street (unless it is a pre-release movie, which appears on the street 24 hours before it comes in theaters). Well, let me tell you... it was everything I hoped for and more. I don't usually get excited about television (usually only about 3/5th's), but this had my knee bobbing and screaming whoahs like a thai hooker getting slapped with a live cuttlefish. Darren, you've missed
out on this, but I bet you can catch up on alluc.tv. All I'm gonna say is that Hiro looks like a badass.

This weekend is Wildwood. Here is a description from my friend Bert:

"Anyway... for those who don't know, Wildwood is a coastal city at the bottom of New Jersey... so you know it's trashy. The boardwalk is littered with jailbait, dollar pizza and more Italian-Americans than you can shake a cannoli at. But, in this case, I am referring to the largest beach Ultimate tournament in the country."

Let's just say I'm excited and will probably be talking about this for the next 3 months. You can read more up at that link about past shenangians, but this year holds a promise for me. The promise of life (barely-legal), liberty (escape from the boardwalk p0-p0), and the pursuit of happiness (deep-fried oreos).

I don't want to crap on your parade, but I have to point out a couple things that irked me about the last episode of Heroes.

1. Skylar (is that his name?) went down way too easily. In every other episode he was impossible to touch, then in this one, he sees Hiro charging from yards away and doesn't even move. Lame.

2. He didn't even have anything to do with the big "bomb" that was going off. All season we were told he was this bad guy, and was going to cause the end of the world.

3. The whole "save the cheerleader..." thing went kind of unanswered, I felt. The point of that was that is Skylar got her powers, he would be unstoppable, but refer to point 2 as to why that does not matter.

4. Technically, the guy who absorbs other people's powers could have just flown himself up. I mean, maybe he was too panicked to do it, which is fair, but there solution to not shooting him in the back of the head was to have his brother fly him into the sky.
Ok, while I dig the brotherliness of it all, the fact remains: they could have killed just one person and solved the problem, or, they could kill two people to solve the problem (unless the absorbing-guy's regeneration powers save him), and they opted to kill two people. That was there solution. I don't think that makes much sense.

The main reason I was disappointed with that episode was that the entire series up until that point was awesome and seemed building to this great thing. Then the last episode was just mediocre.

Well, I have been waiting about three and a half months to get that off my chest.

I hope we can still be friends after this, Matt.

You meant "Do the cheerleader..." Not "Save the cheerleader..." right?

oh and I think its Sylar. No K. He's like Zito, can't strike anybody out.

Genghis, we are now bitter enemies. At least until I finish writing this response. After that, I'm gonna have cake.

1) Agreed, Sylar did go down like a punk-ass. However I don't think he's out for the count yet. Remember, all those images flashing before his eyes still as he finally "dies"? I don't think we have seen the last of him. Plus there is the "other individual" that can see the little girl when she is locating specials.

2) Well, he was the bad guy, as so much that he was killing people and taking out their brains. mmmm, brains.

3) He tried not once, but twice to get her powers, but they were able to "do the cheerleader" (thanks Greg) each time. I would definitely do the cheerleader. and the cheerleader's mom.

4) Major point of contention. I don't think Peter Petrelli can use multiple powers that he has absorbed at the same time. You never see him flying and teleporting, or being invisible and reading other people's thoughts at the same time. He is sort of like Rogue in this aspect. So his brother definitely had to be the one to fly him out of there because he was too busy blowing up. Maybe he does regenerate. We shall see in the next season.

I can understand your disappointment. It's like eating 7 boxes of Chocolate frosted sugar bombs, waiting 6 weeks, and when you get your propeller beanie, it doesn't actually fly.

Yeah but at least you have a cool cardboard box to paly around with.

Alright, Matt, you raise very interesting points.

Hopefully these will be addressed in next season.

Hey, what do you think: are they going to have the same characters or new ones? I feel like the may almost forget about everyone not named "Hiro", and do a new deal...excpet Sylar, of course.

Alright, balls, you are gay.

They are going to have Hiro and Claire (sweet, sweet Claire) and anyone else who signed another contract for the next season. Parkman may or may not live. Definitely the two childrens, and hopefully psycho girl.
